Get Rid of Pigmented Lesions - What are They?
Pigmented lesions sound alarming or life threatening but are actually very common. In fact, a majority of adults develop one form or another of pigmented lesions on their skin.
What are they and how do you get them?
Pigmented lesions are skin spots or growths that are caused by melanocyte cells found in the skin. These cells produce melanin, a naturally occurring pigment that gives color to the skin.
Among the common forms of pigmented lesions:
Some pigmented lesions are inborn. Some people get them as they age, due to sun exposure, and even due to hormonal fluctuations. Certain medications like birth control pills or hormone replacement medications can also cause these pigmented lesions.
Spectra Laser Peel Helps Get Rid of Pigmented Lesions
What is the Spectra Laser Peel?
If you are looking for a safe, gentle, and non-surgical solution to get rid of pigmented lesions, the Spectra Laser Peel is perfect for you. It uses a series of laser wavelengths and energy pulses to address a variety of skin issues including fine lines, acne scars, and skin pigmentation.
The Spectra Laser Peel is FDA approved and is proven to be gentle and safe for most skin types. Many cosmetic treatments, while being minimally invasive, may still result in some bruising, swelling, and possibly some bleeding. That is not the case with the Spectra Laser Peel. It’s a quick treatment that yields great results with no downtime.
How Does the Spectra Laser Peel Work?
The Spectra Laser Peel uses gentle laser light that acts on the skin in 2 ways:
Skin Cell Regeneration: The laser acts on the dermis, the layer of skin that lies below the epidermis, the outermost part of the skin. When laser light is directed upon this layer, the skin contracts. This works to stimulate skin cell regeneration, as well as, encourage the production of collagen. The result is firmer, more glowy skin.
Because it helps with inflammation, as well, the Spectra Laser Peel is effective against acne and acne scars.
Exfoliation or Ablation: At the start of the treatment, a thin layer of a carbon based lotion is applied to the skin. The laser acts on the carbon particles in the lotion and this helps to lightly ablate old skin cells from the epidermis.
Subsequent passes of the laser over the skin also breaks up melanin, which helps get rid of pigmented lesions including freckles, age spots, and melasma.
What Issues does the Spectra Laser Peel Address?
Aside from pigmented lesions, the Spectra Laser Peel can help with a variety of skin issues including:
✔️ Fine lines
✔️ Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (dark marks or spots left behind after a pimple heals)
✔️ Enlarged pores
✔️ Oily skin
✔️ Unwanted tattoos (only if pigments used are red, brown, black, blue, orange, purple, or tan)
Why Get a Spectra Laser Peel?
If you’re looking for a quick yet effective solution to get rid of pigmented lesions and other skin issues mentioned above, the Spectra Laser Peel is the treatment for you. It has been a go-to treatment for many Hollywood celebrities for these reasons:
✔️ It’s FDA approved (therefore safe)
✔️ It can improve your overall skin tone
✔️ It can take years off your face by reducing the appearance of fine lines, pigmentation, large pores, and acne scars
✔️ It can be performed many times without harsh results because the laser used is gentle
✔️ Unlike other treatments (CO2 lasers or AHA/TCA chemical peels), there is no long downtime
✔️ The procedure is quick, convenient, and comfortable
✔️ It’s possible to safely have it done at the same time as other treatments including RF, IPL, or microdermabrasion
✔️ It has long term effects
✔️ There’s no need for daily, messy creams
What To Expect When You Get a Spectra Laser Peel?
Unlike a lot of treatments, not much pre-treatment preparation is needed. Before treatment starts, your face will be thoroughly cleansed to avoid any infections. A topical anesthetic is applied to the skin to keep you comfortable during the procedure. It takes approximately 20 minutes for the anesthetic to take effect.
The specially formulated SpectraLotion™ is thinly and evenly applied to the face. SpectraLotion contains fine particles of carbon which can penetrate into the pores and acne scars.
For the treatment, multiple passes of laser light is made over the skin. It is used in two modes:
Spectra Mode: In this mode, the laser is directed towards the dermis. It works to stimulate skin cell regeneration and production of collagen.
This allows your skin to regain structure and suppleness. In addition, any inflammation you may be experiencing may be reduced. This helps reduce the appearance of acne.
Q-Switched Mode: After the Spectra Mode, the laser is used in the Q-Switched mode. The laser targets the carbon particles in the SpectraLotion. This helps to exfoliate old skin cells.
During this mode, any hyperpigmentation you are experiencing (age spots, freckles, melasma, etc) is also addressed. The laser breaks down the melanin that causes these hyperpigmentation issues. Over time, this is passed out of the body through its natural elimination processes.
During the treatment, do not be alarmed if you hear snapping sounds. You may also feel a slight warm tingling sensation as the laser is passed over your skin. This is just the laser working as it gives off quick pulses.
To keep the skin cool and comfortable during the treatment, your specialist may use a saline solution spray between passes of the laser.
A typical Spectra Laser Peel treatment lasts less than an hour, after which you may go back to your usual activities.
While a single treatment can already make a big difference in your skin, three treatments spaced two weeks in between yields the best results. This can be repeated two to three times a year.
What are the Possible Side Effects?
Because a Spectra Laser Peel is non-invasive and gentle, adverse side effects are very rare. It’s possible to have some reddening of the skin after the appointment but this usually goes away after a few hours.
Some patients have reported some itching or swelling. Among the very rare side effects are bruising, scabbing, or temporary hyper or hypo-pigmentation.
There is still a risk of infection. However, choosing a reputable provider who has the training and experience in performing this procedure will largely minimize infection risk.
