Skin Theory Aesthetics is the Spectra Laser Peel expert, providing reliable results, all with no pain or down time.
What is the Spectra Laser Peel?
Often called the Hollywood or Celebrity Glow Facial Peel, this FDA approved procedure uses laser light to gently exfoliate and resurface skin to erase fine lines, dark spots, and acne scars and shrink the size of pores. The results are instant and give you fresher looking skin that glows.
Because there’s no downtime after the procedure, this treatment provides a quick solution when you want to look extraordinary for a special event. Celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Kim Kardashian rely on this treatment to look their best for their red carpet appearances.
How Does the Celebrity Glow Facial Peel Work?
The Celebrity Glow Facial Peel uses a series of laser wavelengths and pulses to improve the quality of your skin. The treatment uses a carbon mask, specifically a layer of Carbon Spectra lotion applied to the skin to assist the laser in its work.
The laser is used in two modes and it affects the skin in two different ways:
Spectra Mode. In this mode, the laser acts on the dermis (the skin layer below the topmost layer of the skin). The laser stimulates cell regeneration and reduces any inflammation.
Q-Switched Mode. After the Spectra Mode, the subsequent passes of the laser are done in Q-switched mode. The carbon contained in the Spectra lotion is targeted and destroyed by the laser.
This mode also lightly exfoliates old skin cells from the topmost layer of the skin (the epidermis).
If there are dark spots such as age spots or freckles, the laser breaks up the melanin (pigment) in these imperfections. The body eliminates the synthesized pigment through natural processes.
In a single treatment session, multiple passes of the laser will be made until desired results are achieved.
You may wonder if this is safe. The answer is yes. The laser used is very gentle so the multiple passes do not cause any adverse effects. In fact, the laser treatment is gentle enough that there is no downtime required after your appointment.
What Issues Does the Celebrity Glow Facial Peel Help?
The Spectra or Celebrity Glow Facial Peel helps improve the quality of your skin in a number of ways:
It refines and helps make large pores appear smaller
It helps with clogged pores
It helps erase pigmentation, fine lines, and other skin texture irregularities

It has long term results
It is gentle enough to be used in combination with other treatments including microdermabrasion, IPL, or RF
How is the Celebrity Glow Facial Peel Performed?
Depending on what skin issue you want addressed, the procedure for the Celebrity Glow Facial Peel will slightly vary.
The process starts with a thorough skin cleansing. Depending on how pain sensitive you are, your specialist may apply a topical anesthetic which will numb the skin. The cream takes approximately 20 minutes to take effect. However, for the most part, the Celebrity Glow Facial Peel is painless and the anesthetic can be skipped.
Procedure for Enlarged Pores, Acne Scars, Acne, and Fine Wrinkles
After the pretreatment preparations, a thin layer of SpectraLotion™ is applied evenly and thinly to the face. This specially formulated lotion contains carbon particles that can penetrate the pores of the skin or acne scars.
The initial pass of the laser targets the dermis which stimulates cell regeneration. The subsequent passes help gently exfoliate the skin. During this phase of the treatment, the laser also targets the carbon particles contained in the SpectraLotion and causes them to break down. As the treatment progresses, the following happens:
Pore size is reduced
Production of sebum is reduced (this helps in the control of acne)
Collagen production is stimulated
Melanin in freckles, liver spots, and other pigmentation is broken down by the laser
Procedure to Remove Pigmentation or Tattoos
The laser is focused on the pigmented areas or on a tattoo. It breaks down the pigment into smaller particles which are eventually passed out of the body through its natural process of elimination.
The laser used in a Celebrity Glow Facial Peel gives off quick pulses as it is passed through the skin. This can cause snapping sounds while it's in use. The skin may warm up and you may feel some tingling sensation. To help with this discomfort, your specialist may spray a saline solution over the skin to keep it cool during the treatment session.
A Celebrity Glow Facial Peel typically takes less than an hour to complete.
You can expect to see immediate results after one treatment. However, for better results, we recommend getting up to three treatments with a two-week gap between treatments. You can maintain the results by getting a treatment two to three times a year.
After Treatment Care for Celebrity Glow Facial Peel
The wonderful thing about Spectra is you can go back to your normal activities after your treatment. However, you do need to take certain precautions:
Avoid direct sunlight up to 24 hours after your treatment. Don’t forget your sunscreen!
Use a gentle oil-free facial cleanser to wash your face 2 to 3 times a day
Avoid the use of facial scrubs, Retin-A, hydroquinone, corticosteroids, and glycolic or azelaic acids
Make sure your bedding is clean to avoid irritating your face
Are There Any Side Effects?
It’s normal for your skin to redden after the treatment. This should subside within hours.
On rare occasions, some people report some itching or swelling that lasts for a few days after the treatment. Other non-typical symptoms include bruising, scabbing, or temporary hyper or hypo-pigmentation.
To minimize the risk of any infection, you should choose a provider trained, licensed, and experienced in giving Spectra or Celebrity Glow Facial Peels.
