But perhaps the coming of beach season causes you more anxiety than excitement.  Just think of it as a golden opportunity to make some of those life changes you’ve been dreaming of. After all, there's nothing wrong with setting goals or making resolutions half way through the year, is there?

If the time left between you and swimsuit season is dwindling, never fear. With some quick fixes and lifestyle changes, you can feel better than ever about getting your body beach ready in just a short time.

Read on to learn our 5 ways to get your body beach ready in time and get yourself feeling healthier than ever.

Get Your Body Beach Ready - Tip 1:

Follow a Low-Bloat Diet

Eating healthily can make an incredible difference in both how you look and how you feel. Following these low-bloat diet tips can not only make you look slimmer, but feel more healthy and energetic as well.

Stay hydrated

Stay hydrated by drinking about 8 glasses of water a day. As a bonus, hydration comes with multiple benefits you may not have considered.

Drinking 2 cups of water before meals can help you consume fewer calories when you dig in. Staying hydrated as the heat rises can make exercise feel easier. Being dehydrated can actually cause your body to retain water and give you a bloated look.

Increase fiber consumption

Increase your fiber intake to reduce bloating. Fiber-rich foods will also help you feel full longer so you won’t be tempted to snack.

Eat 3 meals a day

Eat three balanced meals each day. Avoid skipping meals. Refrain from indulging in midnight snacks or sugary treats. Snacking, even healthy snacking, can stall weight loss and prevent you from losing those last few pounds.

Eat more protein

Add more protein to your diet to promote muscle growth. Spreading your protein intake across all three meals can aid in fat loss.  Eating high quality protein foods can help to strengthen the collagen fibers that reduce cellulite.

Avoid alcohol and sugary drinks

Stay away from beer, wine, cocktails, and carbonated drinks. With every sip of alcohol, you are ingesting unnecessary calories.  Plus, alcohol tends to lower our inhibitions and make us less likely to stick to our diets. Instead, opt for herbal tea like ginger or chamomile, which will help reduce bloating.

Avoid sodium

Avoid consuming sodium-rich foods that cause bloating. Steer clear of processed foods that have a high sodium content; these will only lead to water retention. Instead, opt for foods that reduce bloating, including cucumbers, bananas, papaya, asparagus, and dark leafy greens.

Say no to fast food and restaurants

Cut back on eating out. Eating lunch at a restaurant can make it harder to lose weight. Pack your own midday meal and you'll not only save calories, you'll save cash too.

Eat healthy barbecue food

Summer doesn't feel complete without backyard barbecues and burgers, and you don't have to miss out.  Simply making some healthy swaps can make all the difference.  Maybe you pass on the cheese and bacon and opt for a few creamy slices of avocado on your burger instead.

Swap out the creamy salad dressings

Tweak your salad. Pass on the creamy salad dressings and choose oil-and-vinegar-based ones. Then up the ante by opting for almonds instead of croutons. These nuts contain filling protein and fiber, not to mention vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant.

Don’t crash diet

Avoid crash diets. When you crash diet, much of the weight comes from muscle tissue. Your metabolism will also slow down, so you'll gain the weight back promptly once you stop dieting.

Get Your Body Beach Ready - Tip 2:

Work Out

Exercise: an oldie but a goodie. There’s no better way to tone up those areas you’d like to hide than a good exercise routine. But exercising won’t just help you look better, it’ll help you feel better too.

Try high-intensity interval training (HIIT)

Use high-intensity interval training to lean out. High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a type of conditioning workout that alternates between short bouts of high-intensity exercise and short bouts of recovery. You can easily do a HIIT workout on the treadmill or using just your body weight.

Do core exercises

Select exercises that emphasize the core to tighten your abs. While these are easy to do at home, you can also sign up for a fitness class focused on core strengthening if you prefer a group fitness environment. Modify some of these exercises to tone your obliques as well.

Don’t forget the arms

Tone your arms by lifting weights and doing resistance exercises.

Nor your glutes

Strengthen your glutes by running or doing with squats and lunges. If you prefer, use a treadmill or go for a run on an incline to work out these muscles. Go for a bike ride or take yoga classes to work out your glutes and other leg muscles. Weighted hip thrusts are another good glute exercise.

Avoid elevators, cars, and public transport when possible

Walk and take the stairs to burn calories and tone your legs. Aim to take 10,000 steps a day overall. Try using a fitness tracking app or device to help you count your steps and document your progress.

Use your free time wisely

Aim to get up and moving whenever you can. You could stand up and do some simple exercises or stretches while you’re watching TV, or try dancing around at home to burn some calories while letting loose.

Keep records

Establish a baseline. A successful workout program requires keeping tabs of your fitness so that you'll be more inclined to improve it.  Gauge things like the number of push-ups you can do, how long you can hold a plank, how many lunges you can do in 60 seconds, and how long you can hold a wall squat.  Make it your goal to beat those numbers by one month later.

Stretch more. As we age, the elasticity of our muscles decreases and is accelerated by sports that can overuse and overwork muscles through repetitive motion. This overuse can lead to aches, pains, and injury.

Devote about five minutes to static stretching, making sure to hold each stretch for about 30 seconds. This dynamic warm-up will absolutely improve your weight-lifting game, if you’re into that.

Just dance

Dance. Imagining you're moving to your favorite song. Add a little fancy footwork to your morning commute, dance while washing dishes, or bust out some moves while sitting through a boring conference call to add movement to your day.

Like dance cardio? Awesome—keep at it! Just be sure you're really pushing your limits in class. To get the biggest burn, exaggerate your steps, lunges, slides, and kicks to really boost your heart rate

Don’t forget the upper back

No beach body is complete without a trim waist. What most people do not realize is that strong, well-developed upper back muscles will make the waist look smaller and more defined.

When you neglect to train the upper back, your body can look out of balance and your waist might appear bigger than it actually is. Start sculpting the upper back that your beach body needs by adding bent over rows to your training program.

Condition Your Skin

A beach body isn’t all about the shape. Well-conditioned skin can give you an irresistible, healthy glow. Here are a few tips to help your skin look it’s best this season.

Use sunscreen

Protect your skin with a sunscreen containing at least SPF30.  Reapply it every 2 hours or immediately after you get out of the water.  A sunburn can have long-term consequences, so it’s best to keep your skin safe from harmful UV rays.

Exfoliate your skin and feet to remove dead skin cells. To exfoliate, simply use a body scrub or exfoliating body wash. After exfoliation, apply a hydrating moisturizer to keep your skin soft and supple. For women, apply a fresh coat of toenail polish for a bright pop of beachy color.

Remove body hair

Eliminate any body hair that you don’t want to be visible. For women who want silky-smooth skin, try shaving, waxing, or using a hair removal cream to get rid of any unwanted body hair on your legs, bikini area, and underarms. For guys wanting to appear more well-groomed, trim or shave any stray tufts of body hair.  Better yet, try laser hair removal

Try a spray tan or tanning cream

A sunless tanner can bronze your skin without exposing it to harmful UV rays. Consider visiting a spray-tanning salon. You can work with a professional to find the shade that’ll work best for your skin tone.

Alternatively, pick up a self-tanning product and apply it as directed.  Avoid using tanning beds or laying out in the sun. The harmful UV rays emitted by tanning beds and the sun can cause permanent skin damage.

Try a  body sculpting gel

Use a body sculpting gel to tighten your skin and add some definition. Look for products that contain caffeine, creatine, Vitamin C, soy protein, and other products that reduce inflammation and boost collagen production.

Perfect Your Beach Look

Sometimes a boost of confidence can do more for your appearance than any diet or gym. Here are few recommendations to not only make yourself look great this summer, but also feel great.

Get a nice swimsuit

Wear a swimsuit that you feel good in to give yourself a confidence boost.  Look for a swimsuit that fits well, flatters your favorite features, and conceals any parts of your body you’re not comfortable showing.  Don’t forget to bring along a great pair of sunglasses, too.

And a nice cover up

Bring a cover up that you can throw on over your swimsuit.  If you’ll be out in the sun all day, pick a coverup that provides some shoulder coverage to help prevent sunburn.  Opt for a sexy, breezy coverup so you feel fantastic all day long.

Improve your posture

Practice good posture so you look and feel your best in your swimsuit. Not only will you look great in your beachwear, but you’ll feel great, too. Has anyone ever told you confidence is sexy?

Health-wise, poor posture can cause a cascade of structural flaws that result in acute problems such as joint pain throughout your body, reduced flexibility, and compromised muscles, all of which can limit your ability to burn fat and build strength.

If you’re following our exercise tips, poor posture will also reduce the effectiveness of the workout and can even create unwanted tension that will cause joint pain and other difficulties.

Get some movement while at the beach

Get active while you're on the beach.  While it can be relaxing to lay out on a beach towel, aim to burn some calories and work your muscles while you’re out in the sand and surf.

Grab some friends together for a round of beach volleyball.  If you prefer being in the water, try swimming, stand-up paddle-boarding, surfing, or water-skiing. For a more laid-back beach day, simply go for a walk or run along the shore. The boost of activity is sure to put a smile on your face.

Get Your Body Beach Ready - Tip 5:

Focus on Getting Enough Sleep

Sleep is critical to achieving any physique goals. Whether your perfect beach body requires fat loss or major muscle gain, sleep will be a key to your success. Sleep allows your body to recover from intense exercise as well as grow and repair muscles.

Not sleeping enough can deteriorate your willpower and cause you to start skipping workouts and cheating on your diet.  According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, sleep deprived people partake in more late-night snacking and they are more likely to choose high-carb snacks.
