Why are My Buttocks Saggy or Not As Perky?
Sometimes, it’s just the way your body is built. Some people are genetically predisposed to flat or saggy bums. Blame it on the genes (or your parents).
Other reasons why?
Pregnancy. Along with cellulite or stretch marks, pregnancy can cause your bum to become droopy or saggy. This is because your pelvis will tend to compensate and tilt forward because of the extra weight you are carrying in your tummy.
This results in your hamstrings becoming underused and weakens the muscles in the gluteal area. And this causes sagging.
Old Age. As we age, everything falls - including our backsides. This is because of the loss of collagen which gives our skin and muscles structure and strength.
Fluctuations in Weight. Whether you lose weight or gain some pounds, your buttocks will get affected. Weight loss can cause the skin of your buttocks to sag because there is no more fat supporting the skin from underneath. Weight loss, against common sense, can also cause your butt to droop.
Sun Damage. As unlikely as it may seem because they don’t normally get exposed to the sun too much, buttocks can get sun damaged. They can get brown spots and get wrinkled when not given proper sun protection.
How Can Radiesse Make My Butt Firm?
In the past, the only way to get a firmer or plumper bum was through surgery or liposuction. While they can give you the results you are looking for, the process can be painful and the recovery long.
Radiesse dermal fillers were once just used to treat medium to severe wrinkles or creases in the face or address volume loss on the back of the hands. However, recently Radiesse has been found to be effective as a non-surgical option to bring lift and volume to saggy buttocks.
As a dermal filler, Radiesse comes in the form of microspheres suspended in a watery gel. Initial lift is supplied by the gel, however, this gel eventually gets absorbed by the body.
The more long term effect of a Radiesse dermal filler buttocks lift begins to manifest itself approximately 6 weeks after injection. This is because Radiesse can stimulate production of collagen which can give saggy butts lift and volume.
Typically, the Radiesse buttocks lift requires 2 to 3 treatment sessions spaced 4 months in between to achieve the results you desire.
The Advantages of Radiesse Buttocks Lift
If you are averse to the idea of surgery, a Radiesse buttocks treatment may be the best alternative for you. You may ask yourself - “But will it effectively make my butt firm?”
The answer is yes, it will. It may not be as permanent as the surgical option, but it will be long lasting. A Radiesse buttocks lift can last from 2 to 5 years. And because the effects are gradual as your body produces collagen, the resulting lift is natural looking.
What are the other benefits of a Radiesse buttocks lift?
Since there are no incisions made, there’s no postoperative scarring.
There’s no long recovery period. You can go back to normal activities (with some expected precautions) soon after the treatment.
There are no silicone implants nor liposuction involved.
It can improve the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks.
If added volume is what you’re looking for, a Radiesse buttocks lift can add 20 to 50% augmentation to your derriere.
If you have hallowed spots, a Radiesse treatment can also address these.
What To Expect With a Radiesse Buttocks Lift?
While a Radiesse buttocks lift is a non-invasive and low-risk treatment, it’s still a procedure. It’s important to:
Choose a reputable provider who has the training and experience to administer the treatment.
Have a consultation prior your appointment to find out if the treatment is appropriate for your particular situation.
During the consultation, it’s important to disclose any medical conditions (allergies, sensitivity to certain substances, bleeding disorders, pregnancy, etc) and medicines or herbal supplements that you are taking that can increase risk of bleeding during the procedure.
Up to 2 weeks prior to your appointment, your specialist will advise to refrain from:
Smoking, vaping, or drinking alcohol (48 hours prior to procedure)
Taking ibuprofen or any NSAIDs that can increase risk of bleeding
Taking herbal supplements
There are no special preparations for the administration of the Radiesse. Before the injection of the dermal filler, the target area will be cleaned and sterilized to avoid any infections.
Radiesse itself already contains lidocaine which can help any pain that you may feel during the treatment. It’s important to disclose to your specialist if you are particularly sensitive to lidocaine to prevent any undesired results.
Your specialist may also apply a topical anesthetic if you have low pain tolerance to help with any discomfort during the treatment. Once the target area is sufficiently numb, Radiesse can then be administered.
A blunt tip cannula is used to inject the Radiesse into the treatment area. It may take several injections per treatment. As already mentioned, you may have to go back 2 to 3 times more to achieve the results you are looking for.
You may experience some pain or swelling in the gluteal area after the treatment. This should go away within a week after treatment. If you’re up to it, you may be able to go back to your normal activities soon after your appointment.
To allow the Radiesse to settle correctly, your specialist will advise you on the best sleeping position after treatment - on your back or on your side - to avoid applying unnecessary pressure on buttocks while the Radiesse is settling.
Are There Risks Involved?
The most common effects of a Radiesse buttocks lift treatment are:
Lumps or bumps
If you notice any of these symptoms, however, it’s important to contact your specialist iimmediately or seek medical attention.
Yellowish or greenish discharge at the treatment area
These are serious symptoms that cannot be ignored and point to a possible life-threatening infection. However, we will also emphasize that these are rare and can be avoided by choosing an experienced and licensed provider to administer your Radiesse dermal filler buttocks lift.
