Spring Pick-Me-Up Skin Treatment #1: Chemical Peels

Is your skin crying for attention after a hard-fought winter? Chemical peels are the perfect way to give your skin a pick me up this summer!

For a more youthful appearance without invasive procedures, chemical peels are the ideal solution because as an instant option for a skin boost that can add a luster or texture improvement without any downtime or impact on your schedule. Your certified and experienced specialist from Skin Theory Aesthetics can assist in scheduling your treatment today.

Chemical peels are not as scary as you think, contrary to popular belief!  We, with our years of experience, use low percentages of multiple acids to avoid the risk of hyperpigmentation, which in turn causes less irritation than a single acid at a higher strength.

Did you know that a chemical peel could also take care of your acne and acne scars for good?  If you’re someone that suffers from acne, a chemical peel might be the right choice for you. The right peel can end acne and soften the scars that come with it.

The acids used for this particular peel unclog the pores while also eroding blackheads to fade post-pimple marks. Not only that, the acids also linger on the skin for a while, continuing to keep the skin clear over time.  Good to know right?

Spring Pick-Me-Up Skin Treatment #2: Dermal Fillers

This kind of treatment is most recommended to patients looking for instant gratification.  It is used to lift the face and provide a contour that lasts, which can instantly take years off of the face. It achieves a refreshed, youthful appearance without looking “done”.

Dermal fillers work to restore lost volume in certain areas of the body and enhance areas, such as the lips or cheeks, by adding volume in a controlled way. A decrease in collagen is one of the biggest causes of fine lines and wrinkles and experts believe the breakdown begins when people are around 25 years old.

Dermal fillers are versatile, minimally invasive, and relatively low risk, which makes them a popular option for people who are looking to get the upper hand on signs of aging. They are not the same as neurotoxins like Botox® and work in a completely different way, but they do treat similar skin complaints.

Fillers are FDA approved to address the following concerns:

  • Under Eye Fine Lines

  • Brow Furrows

  • Crow’s Feet

  • Frown Lines

  • Cheek Enhancement

  • Acne Scarring

  • Pronounced Nasolabial Folds

  • Fine Lips

  • Vertical Lip Lines

A filler is injected below the skin with a needle or a catheter depending on the area and results desired. The procedure is quick and downtime is minimal.

Some patients experience some bruising or swelling straight after the procedure, but it typically subsides after a couple of days. Results are generally seen immediately, but full results can be seen a few days after the procedure, but they’re definitely worth the wait!

Spring Pick-Me-Up Skin Treatment #3: Microneedling

Warmer months are fast approaching and there are many different techniques to utilize to sluff off that winter layer and start focusing on your springtime glow. This non-surgical procedure is a go-to by our certified aesthetician from Skin Theory Aesthetics™ when treating patients who are looking for a quick fix.

Microneedling (or micro-needling) is a process that involves using needles to puncture hundreds of tiny holes in the skin. It uses tiny needles with a derma roller to puncture the skin. This generates fresh facial collagen for plumper and smoother skin on your face. Micro-needling is mostly a facial treatment and helpful with scars and acne.

The whole process takes around 20-30 minutes and, while it involves needles in your face, the process is actually pretty painless.

You can expect some redness for up to a couple days afterward as a result of all the skin stimulation, but it subsides quickly as the healing begins and the results of more glowing, supple skin start to show. To get truly effective results, you’ll need more than one treatment to continually build collagen and elastin.

Spring Pick-Me-Up Skin Treatment #4: Neurotoxin

Neurotoxin Injections (Dysport, Xeomin® and Botox®) are nonsurgical, cosmetic muscle relaxer treatments that are used to soften wrinkles on the upper third section of the face, as well as diminish the appearance of crow’s feet, thin lips, or neck wrinkles.

They are all 3 very similar and are injected in tiny doses with precision.  A tiny needle is used and the product is injected into specific spots on the face.  Normally, a topical anesthetic is applied to help with any discomfort during treatment. The medicine can target fine lines or the deeper creases by means of adjusting the amount of medication.

A typical session can last up to 30 minutes. Depending on how severe the skin condition is, multiple treatments may be recommended.

One advantage of these neurotoxins is that the results are visible within 2-3 days. Similar to any injection, mild swelling and redness may occur at the injection sites, but cold ice packs are applied immediately after the injection to help with this.

After treatment, you will be able to go back to a normal routine without any downtime but should refrain from any strenuous exercise for about 24 hours.  Those who have this treatment find results satisfying as the skin will appear softer and smoother.

Spring Pick-Me-Up Skin Treatment #5: In-Office Skin Tightening Treatment

Why consider non-surgical skin tightening treatment? Simple! As we age, production of collagen and elastin, two proteins that help our skin stay plump, firm, and smooth, slows down, resulting in areas of lax, sagging skin on the face, neck and body.

If you are bothered by skin laxity, non-surgical skin tightening can temporarily halt this process and restore a firmer, smoother, more youthful appearance with little to no downtime.

These spring pick-me-up treatments are all very beneficial skincare treatments and options to help you get prepared for the warmer weather. Something simple, quick and yet incredibly effective!
